Best Time to Renovate
So you’ve decided that your current business space doesn’t work for you, and you need to renovate to make it more effective and productive for your workforce. Knowing that you need to make a change is a good first step, but there are a lot of considerations to make when developing your renovation plans. One of those considerations is the best time to renovate based on your business needs.

As a general rule, it is not a good idea to renovate your business during your busy season. Most businesses have an off season—a period of the year in which they do significantly less business than other months. If your business has an off-season, that is the best time to do it. It is much easier to move staff around, alter client contact methods or areas, and potentially shut down a department or two during your off-season.
If you don’t have an off-season and tend to do the same business year-round, it may be more difficult to decide the best time to renovate. Some people renovate in the summer because they have more employees on vacation and it is easier to move things around to make way for the construction workers. Another popular time to renovate a business is during the holidays. For most businesses, it is easiest to shut down for two weeks around Christmas to get the renovations done rather than try to work around the construction.
Another consideration is the current crisis. Most construction companies are not doing business right now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t get a jump start on your renovation planning. If your business is currently closed, as so many are, renovating before reopening could be your best option.
